Your family technology coach

A LITTLE ABOUT ME

Hello. I am a blogger.a content creator.a tech expert.a public speaker.a fixer.a movie quoter.a family technology coach.

I started my career in IT in 2003 when I joined the IT department at a home builder in Southern California. I soon moved on to an IT consulting firm, as an IT Manager. After I moved to Utah, I worked with a different IT consulting firm, and I stayed with them for over 8 years.

During my time as an IT manager, I also created a blog to help families understand technology better called FamilyTechZone.com.

I recently left the IT consulting world to focus more on helping families navigate our new digital world. Through FamilyTech.biz I am able to put the skills I have gained throughout my long career in the IT field and bring more families into the future! There is so much amazing technology out there, and I want to help coach your family to get the most out of it!

I love to writespeakteach about technology.

My passion is helping parents understand how new technology can change their life, make it easier, or even better! I have a unique background that can be valuable to families. As I connect your family to the digital age.

TESTIMONIALS

KATHLEEN

KATHLEEN K SUGAR & SPICE

“Through the grape-vine I had heard of Sarah Kimmel. Words like, wizard – techie goddess – blog medium – genius always followed her name…I raised the white flag and reached out to her.
She was there. Swift, fast and precise. I knew I was in the right hands by the questions she was asking and the quick GoDaddy “change of domain” acknowledgements Gmail was providing. By 9pm the dust had settled and all was well. She rode off into the sunset.”

Yesterday Hulu quietly released an update to their app to allow parents to set a PIN on their account to restrict kids from accessing a parent’s profile. This is great news for parents everywhere who don’t exactly want their 8 year old accidentally watching the Handmaid’s Tale! According to the help topic you can easily

by Sarah Werle Kimmel on July 13, 2021 at 12:58 am

Phishing emails continue to get harder to spot these days. The malicious attackers are getting better at crafting legit-sounding emails, which makes it difficult for regular everyday folks to stay safe. Most recently, my sister sent me an email that was sent to her asking if it was legit or not. Upon looking at the

We have apps that can do just about everything we want these days. Although, there are definitely some features I’d like to see added to some of my favorite productivity apps. The phrase “there’s an app for that” really holds true now. With the plethora of Facebook groups to choose from, you should be able

    • Apple & Google, Why Do You Hate Parents?
by Sarah Werle Kimmel on November 2, 2020 at 2:53 am

Most parents these days have the same complaint. Trying to manage kid’s cell phones is almost impossible. Of course there are many solutions to this problem, and generally you need to use at least a couple parental control tools to get the job done properly, but the operating system manufacturers seem to be bent on

The recent pandemic has been causing a lot of companies to pivot their business model. The restaurant and entertainment industry has definitely been the hardest hit. One question I get a lot though, is about the Circle device (sometimes knowns as the Circle by Disney or Circle Parental Control), and

Justin and Sarah discuss technology and kids, rules, and how they have changed in this new pandemic.

    • Instagram Reels – Everything You Need To Know
by Sarah Werle Kimmel on August 18, 2020 at 6:21 pm

With the banning of TikTok looming, Instagram seems to have beat everyone to the punch by releasing their own copycat of TikTok. The company recently pushed out an update that allowed people to start creating Instagram Reels. These short videos are almost exactly like TikTok, without the pesky China relationships.
