Your family technology coach

A LITTLE ABOUT ME

Hello. I am a blogger.a content creator.a tech expert.a public speaker.a fixer.a movie quoter.a family technology coach.

I started my career in IT in 2003 when I joined the IT department at a home builder in Southern California. I soon moved on to an IT consulting firm, as an IT Manager. After I moved to Utah, I worked with a different IT consulting firm, and I stayed with them for over 8 years.

During my time as an IT manager, I also created a blog to help families understand technology better called FamilyTechZone.com.

I recently left the IT consulting world to focus more on helping families navigate our new digital world. Through FamilyTech.biz I am able to put the skills I have gained throughout my long career in the IT field and bring more families into the future! There is so much amazing technology out there, and I want to help coach your family to get the most out of it!

I love to writespeakteach about technology.

My passion is helping parents understand how new technology can change their life, make it easier, or even better! I have a unique background that can be valuable to families. As I connect your family to the digital age.

TESTIMONIALS

KATHLEEN

KATHLEEN K SUGAR & SPICE

“Through the grape-vine I had heard of Sarah Kimmel. Words like, wizard – techie goddess – blog medium – genius always followed her name…I raised the white flag and reached out to her.
She was there. Swift, fast and precise. I knew I was in the right hands by the questions she was asking and the quick GoDaddy “change of domain” acknowledgements Gmail was providing. By 9pm the dust had settled and all was well. She rode off into the sunset.”

by Sarah Werle Kimmel on September 14, 2020 at 10:52 pm

The recent pandemic has been causing a lot of companies to pivot their business model. The restaurant and entertainment industry has definitely been the hardest hit. Other companies have seen their business take off in ways they could have never predicted. I’m looking at you Phone Soap. Samsung is one of those companies that have

  • Is Circle Parental Control by Disney Worth It?
by Sarah Werle Kimmel on September 2, 2020 at 2:24 am

I get asked about parental control devices and apps constantly. I’m always happy to provide answers, as I’ve tried most of them out and definitely have my favorite parental control apps. One question I get a lot though, is about the Circle device (sometimes knowns as the Circle by Disney or Circle Parental Control), and

by Sarah Werle Kimmel on August 24, 2020 at 9:23 pm

Today I interview Justin Payeur, owner and co-creator of the Boomerang Parental Control app. It is by far my favorite parental control app to help keep kids safe with the technology you hand over to them. Justin and Sarah discuss technology and kids, rules, and how they have changed in this new pandemic.

  • Instagram Reels – Everything You Need To Know
by Sarah Werle Kimmel on August 18, 2020 at 6:21 pm

With the banning of TikTok looming, Instagram seems to have beat everyone to the punch by releasing their own copycat of TikTok. The company recently pushed out an update that allowed people to start creating Instagram Reels. These short videos are almost exactly like TikTok, without the pesky China relationships. TikTok vs Instagram Reels While

  • Rocketbook Joins Forces with PandaPlanner
by Sarah Werle Kimmel on July 16, 2020 at 1:00 pm

If you haven’t used a Rocketbook yet, you are severely missing out. As a mostly digital girl, I have to say that sometimes it’s easier to just use a pen and paper. However, I still want the ability to record those notes digitally to search through them later even if I don’t have my paper

  • Spotify Kids Walkthrough
by Sarah Werle Kimmel on June 15, 2020 at 2:47 pm

Recently Spotify released a new app called Spotify Kids. The app has a curated selection of content that are age appropriate

  • How to Combat Subscription Fatigue
by Sarah Werle Kimmel on June 14, 2020 at 4:40 pm

I know this post comes just one day after I mentioned how everyone who uses Marco Polo (and I mean, if you aren’t using it yet, what are you waiting for???) should sign up for a Plus subscription, but it did get me thinking about subscription fatigue. Back in the day, you would pay for

  • All About the Marco Polo Plus Subscription
by Sarah Werle Kimmel on June 13, 2020 at 6:39 pm

My favorite communication app, Marco Polo, has recently started rolling out a new Plus subscription to their app. A lot of the features you are used to getting for free are actually moving into the premium model, and this is making a lot of people upset. When you are used to getting something for free,
